Your name?

Suzanne Urban

Your Location (city, etc)

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Former illustrator and graphic designer, Suzanne Urban creates one of a kind felted characters and illustrative paintings illuminating daily humorous observations.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I am an artist and this is how I support myself, by selling my work.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I launched my website about eight years ago.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

Smirking Goddess™ Studio is my trademarked studio name, I felt it reflected well on my wry sense of humor.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to increase my visibility to collectors but also to highlight two artists groups that I manage AHAO American Holiday Artists Ornaments, a juried group of artists who believe art ornaments are an art form in their own right. And I manage O.D.A.CT Original Doll Artisans of CT.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far I'm beginning to gain, due to my efforts I can write copy, design websites etc. so I'm fortunate I have a lot of key skills.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I wouldn't, since I design all of my own sites and write the copy for it.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I do quality work which means it's hand crafted, so I would have to put collectors on a commission basis, but I'm okay with that.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

none so far.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting the word out on OOAK art ornaments

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

ebay.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

n/a

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

What is your website address?
