Magazine covers can give us a complete x-ray of a society, a culture, a decade. All it takes is the cultural insight of someone like Ralph Brown, to save works of art from the shredder. When his public library in Morris County, in Whippany, was getting ready to recycle the collection of 1960īs vintage Esquire magazines, Ralph just knew thet he could not just stand by and watch. Ralph knew that MoMa museum had organized a George Lois exhibition, and that the name was in the air. He organized his own front cover exhibition, on the front of the original magazines, and enjoyed the great success.
