When you talk about early American history, what first comes to your mind? George Washington? Delaware? Or, perhaps, the signing of the Declaration of Independence?
Well, I'm sure you know that one: the scene where Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin presenting the document to John Hancock, with delegates from the Continental Congress in attendance.
The painting, which was created by John Trumbull from 1786 to 1820, will be temporarily released from its home in the Yale Art Gallery and be put for public viewing in the Seattle Art Museum. More details here at the online version of the Seattle Times.
