STANDS ON DISPLAY Interview

By Interviewer at 06/10/08 11:20

Name of your website?

STANDS ON DISPLAY

Your name?

Susan Kutno

Your Location (city, etc)

999a Cattlemen Road, Sarasota Florida 34232

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Stands on Display is a new website offering display stands for the artist and collector. We offer metal, lucite, table and wall display stands including our new, patented, Adjustable Display Stand. This stand will adjust to fit your artwork from 6" to 20". Artists can reuse this stand by adjusting it to fit a second artwork after the first is sold, and collectors can readjust the stand when they change the artwork it is holding.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The possibilities of the web...being able to reach everyone worldwide, not just in Florida

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

About 8 or 10 years ago I launched my first website. It was a gallery site of my artwork. I am a glass artist and was showing in galleries around the country, so this was an opportunity to show around the world.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Many names that I thought of were taken. Stands on Display was on my list and available.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We cater mainly to glass artists, our prices are very competible and we invented the Adjustable Display Stand, making it available on our site.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To sell to retail, and wholesale buyers and appear on the first page of search engines.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Very well, I think. This is a new website, but others have been doing very well.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would probably invest in pay per click and do major advertising of my site in relevent magazines.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Most definitely!!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Juggling time on the computer and time in the warehouse/office.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Time and money

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Telling retail and wholesale customers for my other company of this new website and some advertising in relevent magazines.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

More time into it than I expected

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site has been up about 3 weeks. I expect big gains in traffic, income and popularity. I will keep it up about a year and then re-evaluate.

What is your website address?
