Art Prints Etc Interview

By Interviewer at 12/30/08 13:35

Name of your website?

Art Prints Etc

Your name?

Mikhail Onanov

Your Location (city, etc)

Glenview

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Signed art prints, art posters, photographic prints and signed photographic prints in this store are created mostly from the original oil paintings on canvas, watercolor, airbrush, pastel and other media paintings and artwork by Mikhail Onanov.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I feel like internet gives me a chance to get more exposure and get my artwork 'out there'.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Art Prints Etc is my first website.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I figured art prints, art posters and photographic prints, or a more collectable versions of these- signed art prints, signed art posters and signed photographic prints is more affordable alternative to original oil paintings. However, I do sell original art on my site as well, thus the name Art Prints Etc.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I offer large selection of signed art prints, signed art posters and signed photographic prints is addition to my original artwork that you can’t find anywhere, since this is the only place where I have my autographed work for sale (except the originals).

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I would like to use this site to promote and sell my Art.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far I'm just getting started. The site has been up and running for a while, but I haven't spend much time on it until now. In the last few weeks it got completely redesigned and I'm starting aggressive marketing. Thus, not sure what the payoff would be, i need to give it some time.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would probably change the layout and get rid of tables (if possible) - I heard search engines don't like those. In other words I would make it prettier.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I host my site at Yahoo and with about 200 products right now i was able to keep up with my inventory using yahoo provided tools.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Advertising is the most expensive thing and luck of easily accessed help topics on major search engines. I found it easier to find a technical blog that has my answer then searching search engine's help for the answer.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Selling more items.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

As I said, I'm just starting - I guess a combination of all available marketing tools should do the trick.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

So far so good. I do not have any expectaions yet.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I just did major redesign in the last couple of weeks. I'll keep it forever.

What is your website address?
